The forceful employee

Emmanuel Mintah Asomaning -

The world we live in today is much easier when you can be trusted wherever we go; where we live, rendezvous points, work, etc.
Trust is the most salient quality or character that qualifies a man for a job, and it does help in promotion at the workplace. Trust always earns you great recommendations from highly respected personalities.

The worst thing that can ever happen to a subordinate in a firm or institution is to get fired at a job. It always better that you quit on your reasons, leaving big shoes to fill in because of the integrity you’ve gained than to be fired. It’s never a good sign of attribute to add to your credibility as a good employee.

That is why it is very much advisable to give your all, in all your endeavors for credibility sake. Remember credibility is key!

The key elements to being forceful in the eyes of your employer is by following the few simple steps;

Being readily open to experience;

The one key thing employers love is the ability to accept new challenges whatsoever towards the progress of the company, as an employee. Being able to try new things and be sure to perfect it. Overly quite intelligent to adapt to new situations and the environment is a key ingredient to being forceful.

Versatility;

Being readily opened to experience doesn’t guarantee a safe guide to know it better. Putting the cloak of versatility does the trick. We can accept challenges and changes at first but going at it is the real problem. A problem which can cause more than enough harm.

*For instance, a marketing executive assistant at a firm is being asked to draft or plan a strategic marketing plan to give out to a firm. The work is brought to lower staffs to bring ideas to the project. Automatically, we know this is a type of work for the qualified or senior staffs to handle perfectly. Well, they are tied up on another similar contract or project and are on it. The work is now given to the lower staffs or perhaps interns since the manager feels they’ve also got some ideas at hand to share.

Now when this happens, there’s 50% chance you have a shot at silver lining; as what you pitch at the presentations venue could likely be an instant ingenuity and an eye-opener to your bosses, the potential you possess. Also in another direction, it could be that the work or findings have no meaning and perhaps the board of managers may think the lower subordinates didn’t put much work in, in getting tangible results.*

Bottom line, we may or may not be able to deny some new challenges as employees. It is up to us to show our worth in the company we work in. Also, we can’t be entirely perfectly at it but one spot of creativity which can be in line with the task at hand will go a reasonable amount of heights to praise you.

Punctual;

Certainly, most employees think this is not a factor to being a good employee. Employers after building themselves and their firms; subjecting themselves to the disciplines of their chosen career, will never allow somewhat “improper attitude towards work” at their premises to toil with the objectives.

They (employers) are never happy at subordinates who work at their own pace. Constantly coming to work at the time they like, fond of absenting themselves from work and most importantly asking permissions to embark on your programs all the time. Doing these things doesn’t earn you the right to be promoted or hence get recommended to anywhere by high personalities. You (employee) remain stuck at the position you’re at.

Common sense;

This is a riveting factor that needs to be stressed upon profoundly. The use of common sense should be concentrated highly upon as…. that can be the basis to test your intellectual capacity.

The fundamental meaning of common sense is just one’s basic understanding of things; which therefore allows one to differentiate between what needs to be done and what not to be done and what is right or wrong.

People with high IQs don’t get guaranteed common sense. It’s something one does constantly to be like by others. Having a lot of common sense comes with a lot of diplomacies. In the subject of common sense, DIPLOMACY IS KEY.

Some of the common sense etiquettes is dealing with human beings’ “bollocks” all times, forgoing your egos and concentrating on teamwork, cooperation, and promotions. Mind you! focus always on your target of your chosen career…. surely that’s very important than letting your ego get in your way.

NB: It is not easy to learn this skill but certainly easy to master its side effects. One tends to neglect behavior since the person adapts to every situation by way of diplomacy. It affects emotionally centered staffs at large.

Invincibility;

From our times at school, through to our internships jobs and now careers, we often come across some mates or colleagues our way that is never at fault in the eyes of the facilitator, lecturer, supervisor or even manager. They’re almost as perfect in all things they do in class or the workplace.

Although no one is perfect! In any case, we are bound to make mistakes now and then but we must try not to make it a habit. Repetition of the same mistake is a pain in the butt; very annoying. Acquaint yourself with any change whatsoever that is profoundly towards the progress of your workplace. Center yourself with critics to judge your stands in taking decisions, making projects, etc. Also, seek ideas, compare and contrast them with yours and draw a favorable solid conclusion.

Due Diligence

You can be hard-working alright to earn promotional spots at workplaces but will not gain it because of diligent practices. Now diligence is the combination of hard-work and carefulness, steadiness. Worksomeness rare should be your hallmark and key skill. Handle work with care.

We can all become wonderful co-workers, mates, managers, supervisors or whatever title we choose, but we can also get there when we are deemed worthy by our superiors.
