Learning in circles
Our daily life is a learning process. As humans, we learn every time as we live on earth. Basically how to talk, how to walk, how to shout, how to love and a whole lot. So our lives just sum up to a series of learning procedures; both formal and informal.
Now observation is a form of learning skill which is developed by careful watching and listening. We develop this skill in all aspects of life, most especially from our role models.
We never go to them and write some lifestyle exams of them to be like them. We just follow their every move to where they are now; their history, their academic life and overall their manners to the fullest to be like them. When that all is done only their names become a difference.
Marching done to the aim of this inspiration comes down to our career paths. The world we live does not recommend us to just live in it but also to learn it and how it things works. We certainly do believe that getting stuck in one job; perhaps one rank or position is a complete failure in life. Someone working at Starbucks or KFC as a waiter and waiter can work their way up to become a manager. Someone working at an LLC as an administrative assistant can work their way up to become a manager of the LLC. Actors can become directors or script supervisors etc.
So basically moving up in ranks or positions at workplaces or perhaps changing an environment at the workplace mostly depends on the employee’s wit and strengths how far they can go.
As we make good use of time at work, we mostly learn new pieces of stuff which are not necessarily part of our job description. Like, say a waiter whose job is to serve customers to their satisfaction can learn how their current manager runs the restaurant if observant to jot down pointers. The waiter stays with the restaurant for a reasonable number of years to be well trusted and loved by customers can rise up to become a senior waiter; thus, will be asking the rate of customer’s satisfaction and then can rise up a vacant position up to be an assistant manager. From there we know where that leads.
No need to be equipped literally with all the masters’ degrees at your field of study to be well equipped for some positions at workplaces. Let your credibility, integrity, intelligence and the willingness to do the job…. do most of the trick for you. Certainly, it doesn’t still happen in most workplaces where these qualities are being valued over the certificates.
Therefore my bottom line is, we do not have all the time in the world to totally complete our education, especially in our fields of study. Nevertheless, we can achieve our targets by diligent practice. Along the line, there could be setbacks such as demotion, reductions in salaries…etc.
Yet you will get there when you focus on what you want, as you know that your setbacks are there to just take you off course and down the drain you go.
HOW TO CLIMB UP THE SUCCESS LADDER OF YOUR CHOSEN CAREER
Before you can possibly work your way to the top, you need to;
Be disciplined:
We do believe this phrase of “how discipline gave us an empire”. And that “a man who will not submit to discipline of is chosen career or occupation is not free to be a surgeon, or engineer, or golfer, or executive. And that nature binds us by arbitrary limits of minds and body.”
Take on more tasks at work:
We are obliged to do more to get more likes and attention from our superiors. We should certainly not be equipped with only what our job description tells us to, but we should be more open to the experience. Fill in shoes for some colleagues or perhaps try to take over when your boss isn’t around. Be more proactive.
Adapt quickly to new challenges:
There are times where the management at the workplace do changes and thus you are required to change the overdone repeated rhythms at work. This is a bit stressful at times and at times requires its workshop to adapt. Nevertheless, believe in yourself and don’t over-complain about the methods but just try to adapt to it.
Have salient qualities:
You are to stand out amongst your workers or colleagues. Try doing things different and better than other workers. You try to do things differently to get the attention of your employers or superiors. But in all you are to make sure, you don’t make your "doing things differently" discourse the smooth operations and progress of the workplace. For that would cause your immediate release.
Have new skills set or develop one:
You need to develop some skills set for your development as an employee with goals. Have an overview of your work and job description, perfect it, develop new skills set to help work in different sectors of the workplace. These new skills set you to develop one way or the other helps you to work in different areas of the organization. This equips you in all possible future higher vacant positions at your workplace.
Educate yourself:
As you work, you eye a high spot at your workplace. And we believe strongly that you can opt for that position once it becomes vacant will no shadow of a doubt. But my worry is that you might not get since; to your employers, you are not qualified for that position but you’ve acquired knowledge inside out of the whole job. That being the case, I oblige you to get a diploma or degree for that high spot you aim. Get the papers to back your integrity, diligence, etc. and also your appropriateness for the job in the eyes of your employer.
Be more focused:
Now before you assume new heights at your workplace, you need to be focused. You need to have a perspective for the new position. Also, make references to the pros and cons of your decision to accept or decline the promotion. Wage your decision
We do not have to sit at one position all our lives unless it’s the last step of your success ladder. We have to push harder to get high enough.
